| Chinese History Museum |
|
In its 88-year history, this landmark has had many incarnations. Built in 1912, this building was originally a courthouse for Sarawak's Chinese community. Then in 1930 it became the Chinese Chamber of Commerce. Since 1993 it has been home to the Chinese History Museum. Its exhibitions offer a fascinating insight into the establishment and growth of Sarawak's Chinese population, which now comprises approximately 30% of the State's population.

| Fort Margherita |
|
| Built in 1879, this fort was named after Ranee Margaret, the wife of the second White Rajah, Charles Brooke. With a strategic location, the fort was constructed to protect Kuching from invaders. Toaday, Fort Margherita has been converted into the Sarawak Police Museum.

| Great Cat of Kuching |
|
The Great Cat of Kuching is located at the junction of Jalan Padungan and Jalan Central. The cat will be dressed up during Chinese New Year celebrations, Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Gawai Dayak and Christmas. Located next to a Chinese traditional arch, it is one of the city's most liked and photographed object.

| Kuching Waterfront |
|
| Located at Jalan Gambier, this is a colourful place for soaking up the sights and sounds of the local culture. There are open-air food stalls and stalls selling fruits and vegetables. Within the area is a hawker centre with some clothes and handicraft shops.

| Sarawak Cultural Village |
|
| Fondly known as the "live museum" the Cultural Village is located at the foot of the famous Santubong Mountain. The Village, built on a 16-acre site, has traditional longhouse dwellings of the various ethnic groups of the state. There are arts and crafts demonstrations and presentations of the dance and music of the Iban, Kayan, Kenyah and Bidayuh people.

| Sarawak Museum |
|
With an external structure inspired by a house in Normandy, the Sarawak Museum is noted as one of the finest in Asia. It has an excellent collection of Borneon ethnological and archeological artefacts and a permanent exhibition of native arts and crafts.

| State Mosque |
|
This multi-million dollar mosque beside the Sarawak River was completed in 1968. It stands on the site of the original Masjid Besar, a wooden construction of which was completed in 1852. With the increase in the Muslim population the need for a bigger mosque was pressing. The state mosque is a magnificent structure of golden domes.

| The Astana |
|
The beautiful and majestic Astana is made up of three villas. The centre villa has a corridor that connects the three buildings. Constructed in 1870, The Astana was a gift from Raja Charles Brooke to his beloved wife. Today, the Astana is the official residence of the Governor of Sarawak. Important functions and celebrations are held there.

| The Islamic Museum |
|
The first museum of its kind in the region, this cultural gem houses important artefacts that chronicle the development of Islamic culture within Sarawak and throughout the Malay-Indonesian archipelago.

| The Square Tower |
|
Built in 1879 as a prison, the Square Tower was later converted into a fortress and then dance hall. From the top of the tower you can view the same spectacular vistas of Mount Santubong and Serapi that enchanted such illustrious visitors as Somerset Maugham. Today the Square Tower has been converted into a multimedia information centre and video theatre providing information on Sarawak’s tourist attractions.
