| Dataran Bandaraya |
|
| Built to commemorate the declaration of Johor Bahru as a city on 31 December 1993, Dataran Bandaraya or City Square is much sought after for public events like parades and stage shows. This popular tourist attraction comprises a large stage, a minaret, a fountain and a clock tower reputed to be the biggest in the region. It also boasts of the tallest flag staff in the state and a mega video screen has been installed for visitors to view live transmissions.

| Istana Bukit Serene |
|
| The present Sultan resides in Istana Bukit Serene on the edge of town. The palace was completed in 1933 and its 32 m tower becomes a city landmark. It is not opened to the public but visitors can get a glimpse of the beautiful gardens when passing by.

| Johor Bahru Duty Free Zone |

| Located on Johor Bahru’s eastern waterfront area, this is the largest duty-free complex in Malaysia. It has a hotel and convention centre, a floating restaurant with a popular nightclub and a five-level shopping podium. There are ferry links to Singapore and Indonesia located here and immigration and customs facilities.

| The Masjid Sultan Abu Bakar is reputed as one of the most beautiful mosques in Malaysia. Situated on a hill that overlooks the Straits of Johor (Selat Tebrau), it took 8 years to construct and was completed in 1900. The Italian tiles and marble pillars blended nicely with the traditional Muslim style architecture, thus making the mosque majestic and awe-inspiring.
