| Located in the heart of the Indo-Pacific Basin is the centre of the area famed for the greatest marine bio-diversity in the world, Malaysia's marine parks offer diving enthusiasts an unparalled opportunity to enjoy some of the most beautiful marine sights in the world.
The East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak offer beautiful dive sites. The proximity of Sabah and Sarawak to the South China Sea and the Celebes Sea attracts a wider range of marine life and pelagic species among its world class reef. Visibility is great.
Pulau Payar, one of the islands in Langkawi group lies off the West Coast of Peninsula Malaysia and has many endangered species found in the park's sanctuary. Local dive centres in Langkawi offer excursions to Pulau Payar and its neighbouring islands located halfway between Langkawi and Penang where marine fauna characteristics of the Indian Ocean can be viewed.
Pulau Redang of Terengganu is the largest island cluster in Redang Marine Park and presents some of the world's most mature coral gardens.
Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah, where divers stop in transit to Layang-Layang, Langkayan, Sipadan and Mabul. Some distances off Kota Kinabalu is the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park where it is made up of five islands namely Gaya, Sapi, Manukan, Sulug and Mamutik. Shallow waters, dazzling coral gardens and a variety of accommodation makes this a popular site.
The best time to dive varies from different regions. It is better to check with the local tourist office. |
